About Rishop

Rishop is considered one of the best tourists destination located at a distance of 9km from Lava.Rishyap offers a splendid view of Mt.Kanchanjunga and other snowcapped mountain peak.There is a fasinationg 3kn trek through the dense forests towards the mountain top, Tiffindara,deftly negotiating the bushes and boulder en-route.

Tourist will stop many time gasping for breath, only to be mesmerized by the enchanting beauty of the woods.Finally they can view a complete 360 degree view of Mt.Kanchanjunga, Mt.kharg, Kokthang,Rathung,Kabroo(North,south,dome,Fourth),Talung,Pandim,Simvo,Narsingh,Siniolchu.

At clear night, far below,one can view the lights twinkling in the nearby towns and villages. The village tourism at Rishyap is about 10years old and still enjoys the unspoiled natural beauty.

How to Reach

From NJP railway station, Rishop is about 110kms via Kalimpong and 120kms via Gorubathan. Distance from Bagdogra airport would be additional 10kms. It takes about 4 hours to reach Rishop from NJP. From Kalimpong the distance is about 28kms via Algarah. As you take the main highway from Kalimpong, after Algarah a steep gravel road goes up towards Rishop. And you should ideally take a vehicle like a Jeep to negotiate this highly bumpy gravel road.
